10 Things Most Landscapers Won't Tell You - But We Will

There are some things about landscape maintenance most landscape companies don’t tell you. Frankly, you might not want to hear them.

Here at Outback Landscape, we’re not afraid of tough discussions.

Here are 10 things you should know about landscaping services.

1. Weed Control Doesn't Mean You’ll Never Have Weeds

No single herbicide, weeding technique, or lawn care tactic works against all weeds. They're shifty. We’ll kill most of them, but not all of them.

2. Perennial Weeds in Plant Beds Reappear Each Year

We’ll weed your planting beds and apply preemergent weed killer in the spring, but sometimes weeds will sneak into your beds. They’re not controlled by preemergents. It frustrates us, too.

3. You'll Need Consistent Lawn Treatments to Get Real Results

It’s kind of like brushing your teeth. Consider it a regular task. Treating your lawn one time with herbicide or fertilizer will help, but it really needs to happen on a regular basis to get the best results.

4. Sometimes Snow Plowing Can Result in Landscape Damage

We’re really careful while plowing and clearing snow, but when there’s 12 inches of snow on the ground we just can’t see everything. Outback Landscape will always repair anything we damage.

5. It Takes Longer to Plow During Heavy Snowstorms

It can take 4 to 5 times longer to complete a plowing route during a heavy snowstorm. It’s sometimes impossible for our hard-working crews to get everything plowed and cleared before you wake up. But we’ll arrive as quickly as we can.

6. Snow Plowing and Snow Removal are Two Different Things.

We’re happy to plow your parking lots, pushing the snow out of the way so your employees and customers can park and navigate safely. But when you're out of room, that excess snow has to be hauled away, off site.

7. There’s a Difference Between Routine and Seasonal Landscape Maintenance

Routine maintenance includes the regular care your landscape needs to stay tidy and healthy. Tasks such as mowing, weeding, trimming, and blowing off paved areas.

Seasonal maintenance changes with the seasons. Tasks include installing and maintaining vibrant flowers for summer color, lawn aeration, and fall leaf removal.

8. It Takes Time for Flower Beds to Fill in

Something else landscapers might not tell you, you won't have full, voluminous flower beds as soon as the crew drives away. Nature doesn't work that way. Flowers are small and spaced far apart when they’re planted. They need proper spacing so they have room to spread and grow. And they will. You’ll see.

9. It’s Impossible to Remove all Leaves From a Property During Fall

You know how it goes — the minute you rake the last leaf from your lawn, a dozen drift in from your neighbor’s yard. We’ll get most of them. But we don't offer 24-Hour Leaf Watch services.

10. We Can’t Spray Weeds if it’s Raining or if the Wind is More Than 10 mph.

That’s illegal. At Outback Landscape we follow all the Idaho Department of Agriculture laws regarding the proper, safe use of herbicides and pesticides.
